Steadily changing conditions worldwide require employees to be assigned to areas where their skills are most needed. Personal commitment and a willingness to learn are key factors ensuring that
knowledge, experience and competencies may be used in a targeted manner.
Employee motivation and professionalism as well as institutional knowledge are the SDC’s most valuable assets. The Human Resources Division adheres to strict principles to ensure that the strategy is properly implemented:
- Targeted development of employee potential by reinforcing personal, methodological, social and managerial skills HR development
- Encouragement of employee assignments both inside and outside the SDC as well as assignments that bring employees in contact with several SDC divisions. Temporary assignments to external institutions allow employees to bring new knowledge back to the SDC and enables institutional experiences to be shared.
- Assignments to interdisciplinary teams to develop employee versatility and experience in different fields.
- Recruitment in priority countries of local employees with country-specific or technical skills.
