BURKINA_FASO.GIFBurkina Faso has been an SDC priority country since 1976. Swiss development programme activities focus mainly on the northern, central and eastern parts of the country, though some have a national dimension, for instance in the field of education. Switzerland's State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) has been providing complementary budgetary assistance and other economic support measures since 1994. In the aftermath of the disastrous flooding that took place on 1 September 2009, in early 2010 Swiss Humanitarian Aid began a six-month project to rehabilitate and expand a small, district hospital in the capital.
