Swiss Network for Education and International Cooperation (RECI)The Swiss Network for Education and International Cooperation (RECI) comprises 25 organisations and 7 individual members. The main aim of RECI is to promote quality education both in Switzerland and in countries in which its members are active, with particular emphasis on basic education as a driver of sustainable development.
With this in mind, the RECI leverages synergies and promotes an exchange of ideas and experiences among its members on matters such as educational content and approaches, teaching materials, processes,
apprenticeships, the use of local languages, bilingualism, and dialogue between indigenous and exogenous knowledge. In the course of its promotional activities, the RECI also maintains links with international events and networks.
Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA)
The ADEA (Association for the Development of Education in Africa) is a partnership network comprising ministries of education, financing institutes, education specialists and NGOs. It aims to promote the sharing of experiences and successful strategies as well as the development of appropriate, effective and Africa-based education policies. Through its support for ADEA, SDC is becoming involved in the political dialogue about education aid in Africa.
Working Group on Non Formal Education (WGNFE)
SDC is the lead cooperation agency of the WGNFE (a Working Group of the Association for the Development of Education in Africa, ADEA). The WGNFE investigates the form and impact of alternative types of basic education that match the needs of specific population groups better than conventional education. Its members include ministries of education, development agencies, NGOs and institutions involved in the non-formal education sector. The Working Group aims to encourage information sharing and political dialogue about these alternatives and to mobilize the appropriate resources.
United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)
UNESCO is a United Nations specialized agency committed to achieving cooperation between peoples by means of education, the sciences, culture and communication, as well as to creating a peaceful culture based on human rights and democracy. SDC supports UNESCO's work and in particular three of its Institutes which specialize in education.
International Bureau of Education (BIE)
The International Bureau of Education (BIE) is a global centre for curriculum development and a field-oriented institute supporting UNESCO actions to promote quality education for all.
International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP)
The International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP) created by UNESCO in 1963 is a training and research centre which focuses on the planning and management of education systems. The IIEP helps UNESCO member countries to improve the quality and effectiveness of their education by offering training to strengthen their capacity and by conducting studies to work out practicable solutions.
UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning pour l’Education (IUILE)
The IUILE is a Hamburg-based research and training institute which operates within the framework of the Dakar objectives on the literacy and education of young people and adults as well as on non-formal education. It is committed to promoting forms of learning that match the needs of disadvantaged and marginalized groups and makes an invaluable contribution to discussion of these topics.
Network for Policy Research Review and Advice on Education (NORRAG)
NORRAG is an education-sector research network which links and networks representatives of universities, research centres and development agencies. It aims to help developing countries to utilize education research potential, and the network provides the research networks of the South with information about development agency aid strategies, publishes regular reports on education research projects and encourages research initiatives.
UNICEF
UNICEF, the United Nations Children's Fund founded in 1946, is a multilateral UN institution tasked specifically with the protection and development of children. UNICEF adopts an approach based on the rights of the child and is particularly active in the following areas: girls' education, integrated development in early childhood and the protection of children against violence, exploitation, abuse and discrimination. SDC participates in the organization's overall budget and supports various UNICEF projects.
Educational Research Network for West and Central Africa (ROCARE)
The task of ROCARE (Réseau Ouest et Centre Africain de Recherche en Education/Educational Research Network for West and Central Africa) is to support educational research in Africa, thus impacting positively on educational practice and policies. Several hundred researchers from twelve countries are members of the network whose strategic aims focus on building national and regional research and policy evaluation capacity, improving the quality and pertinence of research for practitioners and decision-makers and in disseminating findings to stimulate public debate.
Enfants du Monde
It's a non-profit Swiss non-governmental organization that aims to help and protect children from economically and socially disadvantaged countries with development projects geared to education and health.
Fondation Pestalozzi
Die Stiftung Kinderdorf Pestalozzi ist ein Schweizer Kinderhilfswerk, welches weltweit das friedliche Zusammenleben durch die umfassende Stärkung der Kompetenzen und Rechte von benachteiligten Kindern und Jugendlichen fördert. Die internationale Zusammenarbeit der Stiftung konzentriert sich auf Programme in zwölf Ländern im Bereich der Grundschulbildung und der interkulturellen Bildung für Kinder und Jugendliche in mehrheitlich ländlichen Gebieten.
Education for All Global Monitoring Report
The Global Monitoring Report is produced annually to assess the extent to which both countries and the international community are progressing toward meeting the Education for All goals.
Created in 2002 and hosted by UNESCO, the Report Team is an independent group responsible for conducting and coordinating research and writing the Education for All Global Monitoring Report.
To develop each edition of the Global Monitoring Report, the Report Team relies on both in-house expertise and on external consultants and experts in education. The role of external consultants and the number of commissioned papers they produce has varied from year to year, depending on the thematic area under review.
